Trump says Joseph Nocella Jr. to be US attorney for Eastern District of New York

US President-elect Donald Trump announced Monday that he chose Joseph Nocella Jr. to be the next attorney for the Eastern District of New York.

“Judge Nocella has a strong record of bringing Law and Order to the incredible people of New York, serving as a Nassau County District Court Judge, and Family Court Judge," Trump said on his Truth Social platform.

Nocella, a graduate of Columbia Law School, also worked as an assistant US attorney in the same office from 1991 to 1995, Trump added.

He will replace Breon Peace, who said he would resign on Jan. 10 before Trump is sworn into office on Jan. 20.
