Tesla recalling around 200,000 vehicles in US due to camera issue

American carmaker Tesla is recalling around 200,000 vehicles in US due to a rearview camera issue.

The issue regards a "software instability" that prevents displaying the rearview camera image, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said Friday.

The vehicles include Tesla's certain 2023 Model S, X, and Y vehicles equipped with full self-driving Autopilot system.

The latest development follows Tesla recalling a record two million of its vehicles in the US amid a defective system that could impair drivers' attention when using its self-driving feature.

In May 2023, Tesla recalled more than 1.1 million vehicles in China due to braking issues.

The NHTSA had opened an investigation into Tesla's Autopilot system in 2021 as more than a dozen Tesla vehicles hit stationary vehicles.
