Turkish foreign minister meets Turkmen counterpart in Ankara

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with his Turkmen counterpart Rashid Meredov in the capital Ankara on Wednesday, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said on X.

The ministry provided no further details about the content of the talks.

However, a statement released on Tuesday by the Turkish side indicated that the foreign ministers would discuss bilateral relations, cooperation in energy and connectivity, as well as current international and regional developments and multilateral cooperation.

Meredov, who also serves as deputy chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, is on a two-day visit to Türkiye on August 13-14.

On Tuesday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan received Meredov.

The high-level meetings came as Türkiye continues to strengthen its ties with Central Asian nations.
