Indonesia is not only Turkey's friend but also its strategic partner, the Turkish parliamentary foreign affairs committee chief said Thursday.
"We want to improve our relations with Indonesia, which is Turkey's strategic partner, also in the Islamic world," said Volkan Bozkir in Turkey's capital of Ankara during a meeting with Nurhayati Ali Assegaf, the Indonesian inter-parliamentary group head.
Bozkir said the two countries could help each other in international issues.
He noted that bilateral trade between Turkey and Indonesia had reached $1.5 billion.
"[Our target is] $10 billion in 2023," he said.
Assegaf, for his part, said his country wanted to improve inter-parliamentary relations with Turkey.
