Palestinian journalist in Gaza dies from injuries sustained in Israeli attack

Number of Palestinian journalists killed in Israeli aggression on Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023, has risen to 206
The Forum of Palestinian Journalists announced Friday the death of Alaa Hashim, who died of injuries she previously sustained in an Israeli bombardment of Gaza City in the course of its genocidal war. Hashim's death brought the number of Palestinian journalists killed in Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip since Oct. 7, 2023, to 206. The NGO mourned Hashim and condemned the international silence and failure to protect Palestinian journalists. It also urged "enabling journalists to perform their professional duties in accordance with international laws and humanitarian conventions." A ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement took hold in Gaza in January, halting Israel’s brutal onslaught, which has killed more than 48,500 Palestinians, most of them women and children, and left the enclave in ruins. Despite the ceasefire, Gaza authorities reported almost daily ceasefire violations by Israel. The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants in November for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its military campaign.
