Pakistan, Qatar discuss Israeli ‘genocide’ in Gaza

Visiting Prime Minister Sharif meets with Qatari Emir Al Thani in Doha
Leaders of Pakistan and Qatar on Thursday discussed bilateral and regional issues, including Israel’s “genocide” in Gaza, and escalating tensions in the Middle East. Pakistan’s visiting Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in Doha to discuss ways to bolster cooperation between the two countries in trade, investment, energy and cultural exchange, said a statement from the Prime Minister's Office. The two leaders also agreed to bolster “strategic partnership” between the two countries. Describing Israel’s continued aggression in Gaza as “unparalleled” in the world history, Sharif observed that global peace and prosperity is not possible without halting the ongoing carnage in the besieged enclave. He commended Qatar’s principled stance on the Gaza conflict and its persistent efforts to promote peace and stability in the region. Earlier, Sharif met with his Qatari counterpart Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani and discussed avenues to further strengthen bilateral relations, particularly focusing on enhancing cooperation in various sectors. The Qatari premier highlighted Pakistan’s strategic importance in the region and expressed his enthusiasm for strengthening ties with Pakistan in line with Qatar’s vision for economic growth and regional stability, the statement said. He also showed his country’s resolve to work with Pakistan for peace in the region, including Afghanistan. Sharif also extended an invitation to Qatari investors to explore Pakistan’s diverse economic sectors, including agriculture, information technology, and tourism.
