Elif HARANI (B.A., MSc., MBPsS)
I have my Bachelor of Arts Psychology at the Sabanci University in Istanbul, Turkey and completed Master of Science Clinical Psychology at the University of South Wales, Cardiff, in 2019. My dissertation was based on compulsive social media usage in younger generations.
I chose clinical psychology as an area of expertise because it is not only focusing on the individual self, but also focusing on the possible problems one can go through at any stage in life as part of a family, group or society itself. I have gained plentiful expertise during my studies and work experience in Turkey and UK providing high-quality psychological support for patients.
In Turkey, I did my internship as an assistant clinical psychologist at a psychological & pedagogical counselling and training centre in Istanbul for two years. I have gained a deep knowledge of ASD, ADHD, Learning Disabilities, Major Depression, Eating Disorders and applied CBT, Exposure therapy with VR and Talking Therapy during the psychodrama sessions by weekly training program. However in the UK, I had an opportunity to apply basic level of MI (Motivational Interview), CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), and take additional behavioural programs at The Dyscovery Centre.
At The Dyscovery Centre located in the University of South Wales, I completed my training which is a specialist high-quality service for children and adults with, or suspected of having, a developmental disorder or learning difficulty. I also had chance to work as a mental health support worker delivering high-quality psychological support for patients who suffer from Schizophrenia, Borderline Personality Disorder and ASD.
The completed trainings are as follows:
Logotherapy work-shop: Existentialism in Psychology
The Dyscovery Centre Training Level 1: High quality service for children with, or suspected of having, a developmental disorder or learning difficulty.
Lego therapy: Helps children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) develop communication and social skills
