Anadolu films terror group YPG’s 3-level underground tunnel complex in northern Syria

Footage reveals vast underground network beneath mountain in Sarrin, including command facilities, weapons caches, and living quarters
A three-level underground tunnel complex built by the YPG terrorist organization beneath a mountain in the town of Sarrin, affiliated with the Ayn al-Arab region in northern Syria, has been uncovered following a military operation by the Syrian Army. Anadolu filmed the underground structure, described as an “underground city,” which was constructed by the terror group and consists of an extensive network of interconnected tunnels. After an operation that cleared Sarrin of YPG control, Syrian Army units revealed the tunnel system built beneath a mountain overlooking the town. The tunnels, constructed on three levels and connected to one another, contained large quantities of ammunition and documents belonging to the terrorist organization. Some sections of the tunnel network were found to be wide and large enough to allow vehicles such as cars or pickup trucks to pass through. Numerous tunnels were also equipped with electricity and water lines, forming a labyrinth-like structure. Certain connected sections were reinforced with armored doors. The underground complex includes multiple kitchens and sleeping quarters built to accommodate YPG members. In addition to organizational symbols and banners, the site contains a cinema hall, an amphitheater, and a bakery. Tools and equipment used in the excavation of the tunnels were also observed inside the structure. The site in Sarrin stands out as one of the largest tunnel networks discovered by the Syrian Army in areas reclaimed from the terrorist organization.   ‘One of organization’s command centers’ Brig. Gen. Sayf Bulad, commander of the Syrian Army’s 76th Division, spoke to Anadolu while inspecting the tunnels in Sarrin, stating that the underground structure served as “one of the terrorist organization’s command centers.” Emphasizing the strategic importance of the underground complex for the organization, Bulad said Syrian Army forces have secured the tunnels under their control and cleared mines planted by the group. Bulad noted that many publications belonging to the terrorist organization were also found inside the tunnels. “The terrorist organization used these materials to push Kurdish children toward terrorist methods and to alter their lives. They prepared them to manipulate Kurdish youth and to sow discord and division among Arabs, Kurds, Assyrians, and Turkmens, with the aim of damaging Syria’s social fabric. “However, all of this, including the organization’s dreams of establishing a state in northeastern Syria, has been destroyed, God willing, thanks to the heroes of the Syrian Defense Ministry,” he said. Bulad added that authorities aim to turn the site into a museum to show future generations what the terrorist organization carried out in the area.
