Russian Su-30 fighter jet crashes in Crimea
Crew ejects safely, no threat to pilots’ lives
A Russian Su-30 fighter jet crashed Friday in the Crimean Peninsula, which Moscow annexed in 2014, state news agency TASS reported, citing the Russian Defense Ministry.
“The aircraft crew ejected and were evacuated by a ground search and rescue team. There is no threat to the pilots’ lives,” the ministry said in a statement.
It said the aircraft went down at around 11:00 Moscow time (0900 GMT) during a scheduled training flight, adding that the jet was not carrying ammunition.
Earlier this week, Russia said an An-26 military transport aircraft crashed over the Crimean Peninsula during a scheduled flight, killing 29 people.
The ministry said there were 23 passengers and six crew members on board.
